Eastman announces Eastar copolyester MN005 for the medical industry
KINGSPORT, Tenn. Nov. 25, 2002 Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) today announced the introduction of Eastar copolyester MN005, a high flow, clear resin for the medical industry.
Doris Hobbs, Eastmans medical market manager, said, "MN005 has significantly improved flow properties, twice the flow of comparative copolyesters, without sacrificing mechanical properties. Medical OEMs looking for resins to fill small, intricate parts should sample our new material."
Hobbs noted that devices molded from Eastmans copolyester resins are recognized as being tough, very clear and chemically resistant and have gained wide acceptance in the medical device market. They also have excellent gamma radiation resistance. The development of MN005 complements Eastmans portfolio of medical-grade resins and will allow its customers to introduce the copolyester into new marketing opportunities. "Our commitment to our customers and their market needs is our primary focus, and we are confident that MN005 will help them in their efforts to seek new opportunities," added Hobbs.
